A visit from Dr. Carl
4th Feb 2026
P1/2 and L1 were excited to welcome Dr. Carl to our classroom today as part of our People Who Help Us topic.
He spoke to us about his role as a doctor and the many ways doctors help keep people healthy. We explored the clothing and equipment doctors wear, including why they use special scrubs, masks and gloves to keep everyone safe.
We examined real x-rays and worked together to identify which parts of the body they showed. Dr. Carl demonstrated how doctors check for illnesses and injuries, sharing tools such as an otoscope and stethoscope. We learned about broken bones and casts, cuts and bandages, and sickness and medicines.
We especially enjoyed meeting Dr. Carl’s ‘sick’ teddy, who helped him show some of the ways a doctor might care for a patient. He also brought a variety of medical items for us to keep and use in our classroom role play clinic.
Thank you Dr. Carl!
