At VPS, we plan a 2 night residential each Summer term which is offered to pupils in Key Stage 2. We choose a different destination on a 3 year cycle to give children the opportunity to enjoy a variety of experiences. Some of our current P7 pupils have now visited Dublin Zoo & Emerald Park, Wild Atlantic Adventure Centre, Co. Donegal and Greenhill YMCA, Newcastle, Co. Down. Residential visits are valuable learning opportunities to promote independence, resilience, self-confidence and social skills.

Greenhill YMCA is located at the foot of Slieve Donard - a wonderful backdrop for adventure! We enjoyed bouldering on the Shimna River, a blindfolded trust trail, team ropes challenge, climbing, zipline and paddleboarding. We also visited Coco's soft play in Newcastle, enjoyed outdoor games in Donard Park and held Music Bingo in the common room of our accommodation. So much fun packed into 3 days!
