Prize Day 2020

19th Jun 2020

Congratulations to everyone for being part of a brilliant team, both at school for the first part of the year and at home and on Seesaw during the lockdown. It certainly has been an unusual year and you can all be proud of how you have come through it. We will all have special memories of family time; the year Summer came in Spring and the trials and tribulations of home schooling!

I would like to thank all of our parents for juggling the extra commitments of childcare and home schooling while also trying to work from home and cope with all of the changes the pandemic has brought about. I know this has been extremely difficult and there have been trying times and I hope that you will take time at the end of next week to give yourselves a pat on the back knowing that you did a brilliant job, you have come through it and you are amazing.

I would like to thank all of our staff for providing the online learning, childcare for key worker pupils, working long hours into the night and also juggling homeschooling for their own children. I have watched your support for our pupils through Seesaw and you have all been dedicated to ensuring that every child has been catered for and all questions have been answered. Your constant calls, emails, Seesaw messages and WhatsApp support chats have shown just how busy you have all been and I am extremely proud to lead such a fantastic team of people. In the midst of it all you have also attended conferences, training meetings and continued your professional development. I hope you all take a well deserved break over the Summer holidays and use the time to reflect on how well you rose to the challenge. Thank you.

And now for our pupils. We had a great start to the year and managed to achieve so many things together. We had our first ever Coding Club, an amazing Christmas show, a Healthy Team who ran the tuck shop and sorted out our Daily Mile. We also had an Eco Team who worked hard to achieve the Green Flag award and all those Park and Stride days where we enjoyed walking to school together. As our year was cut short, there were so many activities that we could not do but you rose to the challenge at home. We have lots of photos of your Scavenger hunts, Selfie challenges, Daily Mile Challenges and Virtual Sports Day activities. You will all be rewarded with a certificate for surviving lockdown.

At the end of every year, we have some cups and trophies to award and the nominations are in and the winners have been selected. The Endeavour cups are awarded for children who have put in the best effort towards their schooling over the year. The Excellence cups are awarded for children who have achieved the best all round outcomes over the year. And the winners are:
