We were fascinated by the results of our science experiment in which we investigated the damage done by different liquids to eggshells (representing the enamel of our teeth). We predicted that the drinks with the most sugar would do the most damage, but it was actually the vinegar that was the worst by far. We learned that it is in fact acid that causes tooth decay, but also that bacteria in our mouths feed on sugary foods and drinks, leading to the production of acid. In the end, the message was clear: we still need to avoid those sugary drinks if we want to keep our beautiful smiles!
